Accidentally killed at Tamworth Station

A shocking death took place at the Midland Railway Station yesterday. Thomas Smith who has just got the situation of Post Office Messenger to Hints and who was on Friday doing the work of Charles Bailey, the messenger between the post office and the railway station went with letter bags to meet the noon train from Birmingham.

Before the train stopped the deceased got on to the step of the guards van, letting one of his legs hang over, which caught the platform and he was dragged down between the carriages and platform and so much injured that he died directly after he was extracated. The decesased was much respected.
